The Robin that broke the internet...

....Well, almost!

 I take pride in trying to get the best photo's I can, technically good, sharp, great lighting and composition etc etc and it's a real challenge trying to get pictures that I deem good enough to share on my Facebook nature page and Flickr page.
   Well, the last few days have been extremely dark and miserable here in Somerset, so I haven't even bothered taking my camera out of the house! Instead, after putting out bird food, I took a few snaps through the kitchen window of birds coming into the garden.
   High ISOs combined with slower shutter speeds and a gloomy garden meant quite noisy and dark photos, and I didn't have any intention to share any of the pics on my other sites, apart from maybe post them here on my blog, which is more a diary of what I have seen and not intended as a portal of photographic excellence!
   Anyway, last night I did share one of the pics on my Facebook nature page.
A Robin having a bath.
 To my total surprise, likes and comments and shares immediately started taking off, quite a few were saying it was the cutest Robin pic they'd ever seen!!
    OK, it's not exactly gone 'Viral' but it has become my most popular picture ever in just one day!
Usually I get about 100 likes on a pic, this one has over 560 already! It's also been viewed 30,000 times!
Which just goes to show..... photographic perfection is not the be all and end all....sometimes you just need to point your camera out of your kitchen window on a dark and gloomy day and capture something quite cute! :)

Here is my Facebook nature page..... please give it a 'like' if you're on Facebook and say hi!

Below is the bathing Robin, plus a few of my other garden visitors in the last couple of days, all taken through my kitchen window;
